When I had Instagram Live with Tily Niculae, she told me she thought I was Zen all the time.
I assured her that I certainly am not Zen all the time, nor do I think it is possible to access this state permanently. I don’t think it’s useful either, because only through challenges do we have more chances to grow, to evolve, to transform.
What happens to people concerned with this aspect of personal development is that they find techniques over time that help them understand faster, learn their lessons, find the meaning of what is happening, and if not, at least try.
I was lucky enough to be raised by the strongest woman in the world, so I learned a very important lesson from her – If we are still here, it is our duty to recover no matter what happens. Whether we choose to do it on our own or with the help of someone else – psychologists, therapies, courses, etc. it doesn’t matter, it’s important to find what works for us, we are different and what a joy to have so many things to use.
So, it is normal for us to try various negative states, but… in my opinion, it is not normal to stay there for more than a few minutes.
Last night, I realized for the first time that I am “stuck” here in this wonderful place and that does not bother me, because I assumed this and I would not want to go anywhere now, but I am upset that I don’t have the possibility of choice to go when I want, where I want. The lack of freedom I worked for so long. I allowed this feeling to sit for a few moments to analyze it and then, as every time something worries me – I asked myself, “Okay, what is the lesson and what can I do now to get out of this state?“.
Because I have the training, the answer came in the form of a sermon given by a pastor in America – and although we know (all of us who have read the Bible) these things I will reproduce here a few passages that touched my heart, because it does not hurt to remember and the ideas are applicable regardless of the situations we face.
“God doesn’t want me to worry about anything, nothing, nada, zero. Don’t worry about anything, instead, pray for everything.
You can pray, or you can panic.
If you’re not grateful, it means you’re worried. God always tells you: I don’t want you to worry about anything, why? The concern is unreasonable. In other words, it doesn’t make sense. It’s illogical. We usually worry about minor things, such as if we look good, how we are looked at, who I will talk to, I will be late for work, these are things that will not matter in 5 years. Everything is temporary. If you still want to worry, even though God says not to do it, do it for eternal things, not for things that won’t matter in a few years.
No need to worry because God is already taking care of everything. You worry about many things that are God’s responsibility. Worrying is the assumption that God intends you not to enjoy certain things. Every time you worry, you get God out of the equation. So you have nothing to worry about if you understand that you are not alone and understand His goodness and care.
When you were created, God took care of your needs. You matter and you are valuable to Him, simply because you are His child.
When you worry you put a big mark on your forehead that says – I forgot how great and wonderful God is, I forgot His promises that He will take care of all my needs… If you trust, He takes care of all your needs. If you don’t trust Him, you are on your own.
How can you say that you believe in God, but don’t trust that He can handle to send the right man to marry you, or don’t trust that there is someone already built for you, or don’t trust that he will give the job you need.
How can you say that you believe in God if you doubt that He already knows what is best for you? Basically, your concern is an insult to God. You act like an orphan. You act as if you don’t have a God who has promised you over and over again, over 3,000 times in the Bible, that He will fulfil all your needs.
How many times do you act like God doesn’t know what you need? When we start to worry and take all the worries in our arms and we assume that we have to realize absolutely everything on our own, instead of trusting in God we are playing like Gods.
How can you trust God and trust that He will take care of all your needs?
First, ask Him to be your leader every day. Every day, you don’t do this just once. You do this every morning when you wake up – Lord, be my leader! Not only when you have problems, not only when you desperately need God, not only when you have reached the end of your powers, but every day, several times a day, say – God is my leader.
Every time you worry you say this.
Then give Him the first place in every aspect of your life.
The Bible says – God already knows very well what you need. So whatever needs you mention to God, He already knows. Every time you tell him what you need, do you think God says – Oh, I didn’t think of that !? He knew what you needed even before he created you. He knows what you need and He will give it to you, not maybe, but He will give you everything you need as long as He is first in your life.
Every time you worry, it is an alarm signal that in that aspect of your life God does not have the first place.
When God comes first in your life, your priorities are simplified and you have nothing left to worry about. When you give your whole life to Him, you have nothing to worry about.
Every time you love something more than God, that aspect of your life will become something to worry about, a source of stress and insecurity.
In the end, we all have a choice – for what and for whom do I want to live? And whatever you answer – that will be your God.
Don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Every day has its own worries. You can’t change the past, you can’t change the future, so all you have to do is focus on today. When you worry about tomorrow, you lose all the blessings of the present day. It’s okay to make plans, but not to worry.
Sometimes the future can seem overwhelming. But, God has graciously divided everything in 24 hours, so you don’t have to deal with the whole future at once. You get 24 hours if He gave you the whole future once he would overwhelm you, but you’re not there yet. You’re not ready yet. It doesn’t all come at once. You’re going to deal with it, why? “Because God is my leader.”
To all this sermon I added my favourite prayer – Lord, do what you want with me! And any worries about the future, any doubts that the present we all live in is not as it should be and as He wills, are gone.
Bonus – A very sweet song to keep this feeling in our hearts. – Surrender
